Divemaster
Becoming a PADI Divemaster is the first step on the PADI Professional Ladder and is one of the most enjoyable and satisfying jobs available in recreational diving.
Here at Sushi Burger Divers, our Divemaster Course & Internships are conducted in a relaxed and social manner. It is the perfect opportunity for people who want to take their diving skills and experience to the next level.
This PADI course is also great for backpackers & gap year travelers who want to achieve their Divemaster certification as a stop-off in Koh Phangan during their travels.
Structure of the PADI Divemaster Course
The program involves three parts:
- Expert level scuba diving theory which covers all important topics including physics, physiology, decompression theory, scuba diving equipment, and other related concepts.
- Scuba skills and ‘watermanship’ exercises
- Practical Training, where you join Sail Rock Divers staff assisting with real divers
In-water skills and stamina exercises include completing
- 100m tired diver tow – both divers in full equipment/push or tow
- 400m swim – (in one go, with no stops, no swimming aids)
- 800m swim (no overhand strokes) with mask, snorkel, and fins
- 15-minute tread water
- Rescue evaluation
- General diving skills
- Developing the 24 Open Water Diver skills to demonstration quality.
As a PADI Divemaster you will be able to:
- Lead dive trips and tours
- Act as a certified instructional assistant to PADI Instructors
- Teach skills in the pool under the direct supervision of an Instructor
- Conduct the PADI ReActivate program for certified divers
- Teach and certify PADI Skin Divers
- Teach Snorkeling skills
- Generally supervise both training and no training related diving activities by planning, organizing, and directing dives
- Enroll in the PADI Diving Instructor level training
Prerequisites
- Certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent)
- Be a minimum of 18 years old
- Medically evaluated and cleared for diving by a physician within 12 months
- Completed Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care training within 24 months
- Have a minimum of 40 logged dives. (If you do not currently have 40 logged dives we offer any additional dives at no additional cost)
